Boise, Idaho's Collision Repair Specialist! Auto Body Repair
Capitol Auto Body Inc. established in 1960 by Jerry Jensen, was originally located at 1017 Jefferson St., Boise, Idaho. Following several successful years, it became apparent that more space was needed. So, in 1970 construction began at our current location, 5373 Emerald St., Boise, Idaho.
Due to the continuing growth of our business, we built an addition to the shop in 1972, and again expanded in 1988. While we were expanding and making changes to the building, major changes were also taking place in the auto body industry. So, we began upgrading our equipment to keep abreast with the industry's conversion to hi-tech machinery.
Again in 1991, we were faced with the need for additional space, so we began construction on our second shop at 220 W. 37th St. Our satellite shop has a Nova Verta down draft spray booth and Dataliner Laser Frame Equipment. With two modern shops, hosting the most state-of-the-art equipment on the market today, Capitol Auto Body is able to handle even the most difficult auto body reconstruction and continue to serve the needs of our clients.
A good paint shop begins with an exceptional paint product, the best equipment available to do the job, and the most experienced technicians...
When the body technician has finished his major reconstruction repairs, the vehicle is sent to the paint shop for the first stage of the painting process. After panels have been welded on, or there are interior panels that have been damaged, the "jambs" or interior of the panel must be painted. Then the vehicle is sent back to the body tech for the next assembly process.
The body tech further installs the major bolt on outer body panels such as doors, fenders, and hood. Without installing the hardware, (latches, handles, lights and moulding), the vehicle is sent back to one of three downdraft prep-stations for the final preparation of the vehicle. The downdraft provides a sort of vacuum of air from the top to the bottom of the car, keeping dust and fumes down. Here, the vehicle goes through the final stage of preparation. This includes applying primer to the affected areas, sanding of the exterior panels, and masking the vehicle. After this, the car is sent to one of our top of the line paint booths.
At a glance, you can see the versatility of the downdraft spray booth. It's drive in capabilities, along with the water base floor, the downdraft airflow action, and its array of bake cycle temperatures, make this one of the premier painting facilities in the collision industry.
